Ministries We Support
At Freedom Church Cairns, we believe the local church is called to reach far beyond its own walls. That’s why we proudly stand with a range of Christ-centred ministries doing powerful work across Australia and around the world. Each of these ministries is faithfully serving the Lord—caring for the vulnerable, preaching the gospel, rescuing the broken, discipling believers, and advancing God’s Kingdom in places we cannot physically go.
We don’t partner lightly. These are ministries we trust, pray for, and invest in because their fruit is real and their mission aligns with our heart for the Great Commission.
We encourage everyone in our church family to lift these ministries up in prayer, celebrate what God is doing through them, and—where possible—give financially as the Lord leads. When we sow into these works, we take part in the harvest they are reaping.

World Challenge - Widows & Orphans Project
This ministry seeks to serve the world’s most vulnerable — widows and orphaned children — by providing practical care (food, shelter, medical help), safe homes, education, and job-training through local church partners. (worldchallenge.org) Alongside meeting physical needs, they also share the gospel of Jesus, offering hope and belonging through Christian community.
Prison Fellowship Australia
This ministry reaches prisoners — and their families — with the hope of the gospel. (Prison Fellowship Australia) Their work includes prison visits, in-prison evangelism and discipleship courses (such as “The Prisoner’s Journey”), support for children of prisoners especially at Christmas (Angel Tree), and post-release mentoring and reintegration to help break the cycle of crime.
Firm Israel
FIRM Israel more broadly provides a channel for believers worldwide to support these ministries — enabling practical expressions of Christian love toward vulnerable people in Israel. (FIRM Israel)
YWAM
YWAM is a global missions movement committed to evangelism, discipleship training, and practical mercy ministry around the world. They equip believers and send teams to share the gospel and serve people in need.

Tear Fund
Tearfund Australia works with local Christian and community-partner agencies to combat poverty and injustice, both overseas and within Australia. (Tearfund Australia) Their programs cover a broad range: education, health, water & sanitation, food security and livelihoods, community development, and emergency relief — all aimed at building sustainable, dignified lives for those in need.
Mission Aviation Fellowship
MAF provides aviation, communication, and other logistical support to Christian and humanitarian agencies — especially in remote, isolated regions worldwide. maf.org Through air transport, medevac, disaster relief, supply runs, and delivery of resources and training, they enable outreach, medical care, and community-development where traditional transport and infrastructure are lacking.
Bible Society
Bible Society focuses on translating, publishing, and distributing the Bible so people everywhere can access God’s Word. They also support literacy programs, chaplaincy, and Bible-engagement initiatives.
