Lukewarm Christian or Onfire Christian?

One of the clearest warnings in Scripture is Jesus’ message to the lukewarm church in Revelation. He didn’t mince words. He said lukewarm faith—faith that is half-hearted, passive, or comfortable—is unacceptable. In Cairns, many people identify as Christian, but not everyone is living with the fire, conviction, and passion that Jesus calls us to. A lukewarm Christian goes through the motions. They may know the right verses, attend occasionally, or say they believe in God, but their life shows little evidence of transformation. There’s no hunger for God’s presence, no urgency for His Word, and no desire to reach others. They settle for “safe” Christianity—just enough to feel religious, but not enough to cost them anything. Jesus didn’t call us to that kind of life.

 

An on-fire Christian is different. They’re not perfect, but they’re surrendered. They love God with their whole heart. They pursue holiness. They pray boldly. They serve willingly. They carry the joy of the Holy Spirit and the conviction of God’s truth wherever they go. Their faith isn’t private or passive—it’s active, alive, and contagious. Cairns needs Christians like this. Our city needs believers who stand firm, shine brightly, and carry the hope of Jesus into everyday life.
